She married James Collier Lewis in 1932. She was a homemaker and started working at the Charlotte Post Office as a clerk at age 54, until she retired at the age of 72. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dickson County Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. She won many blue ribbons at the Dickson County Fair for her quilts, flowers and vegetables. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, and she enjoyed listening to music and attending church singings. She herself had a beautiful alto voice and continued to sing in the nursing home with her visitors and staff. She loved and delighted in the Lord, in life, and in all her family and many friends.
