Leora Caldwell Lewis of Charlotte, TN passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on December 31, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Robert Van Caldwell and Ona Vera Story Caldwell. She married James Collier Lewis in 1932. She was a homemaker and started working at the Charlotte Post Office as a clerk at age 54, until she retired at the age of 72. She was a long-time member of Charlotte Cumberland Presbyterian Church, which she loved so much, often walking from her house to attend in later years. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dickson County Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. She won many blue ribbons at the Dickson County Fair for her quilts, flowers and vegetables. She spent early morning hours in her flower gardens, especially with her roses, and raised fruits and vegetables from which she enjoyed canning and cooking for her family. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, and she enjoyed listening to music and attending church singings. She herself had a beautiful alto voice and continued to sing in the nursing home with her visitors and staff. She loved and delighted in the Lord, in life, and in all her family and many friends.
