She was born in White Bluff, TN and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Margie Fowler Cocke. She attended public schools and was a graduate of William James High School where she was salutatorian of her  class.  In her early years she worked in billing with the former Southern Bell Phone system.  She will be remembered as a loving, dedicated wife, mother, sister and grandmother.   Her family meant everything to her and she preferred to be home over anywhere else.  In her younger, healthier years, she loved to cook for her family and made the absolute best caramel cake from scratch. She was a hard worker and loved planting fresh flowers around the house.  Mrs. Duke was a longtime member of the White Bluff Church of Christ.
She never missed an opportunity to tell you exactly what she thought, and her wit and stubborness will be greatly missed. Her boys were her world and the love and care they showed her up until her very last breath will forever be a testament of their love and admiration of her.
