 Peggy Milam Gilmore, of Vanleer Tennessee passed away in the early morning of April 1, 2017. She was born to Verlie and O’Zell Milam on April 23, 1936.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 4-8pm with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30pm at the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at 10am on Tuesday, April 4, 2016 followed by at service honoring Mrs. Gilmore’s life at 11am from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dickson’s Union Cemetery.

Married at a young age to Clayborn David Gilmore of Vanleer, the two lived a fulfilling 64 years of marriage together. She enjoyed her career of 36 years as secretary of Vanleer Elementary School. They have two children Keith and Karla Gilmore. Later in life they have enjoyed the company of four grandchildren: Preston Gilmore, Heath Ellis, Stephanie Gilmore and Julia Gilmore. Mrs. Gilmore was blessed to enjoy one great-grandson, Braxton Ellis and another great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Ellis due in August.

She was an active member in Eastern Star for 57 years. Eastern Star brought her many brothers and sisters; as well as years of friendship she dearly cherished.

Mrs. Gilmore is preceded in death by her parents, Verlie and Ozell Milam. She leaves behind her husband, David Gilmore; her sister, Joyce (Larry) Logan of Vanleer; her brother, Lonnie Dale “Ed” (Luanne) Milam of Slayden; her son, Keith (Caroline) Gilmore of Vanleer; her daughter, Karla Gilmore; her Star sister, Mable Daniel of Dickson; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy will be missed dearly by those who loved her and her memory will forever be cherished.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Eastern Star Education Fund or to the Vanleer Elementary library.
