With close friends and family by her side, Brenda June Legg ended her earthly battle on May 13, 2017 at her home in Dickson, Tennessee, surrounded by her family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home.

Visitation will also be on Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017 beginning at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Dickson, with a service celebrating her life at 11 a.m. with Dr. Jim Rountree officiating. Interment will follow in Dickson’s Union Cemetery.

Brenda was born on December 15, 1946, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to Carl Joel Legg and Opal Margaret McAfee Legg, both of whom pre-deceased her, as did her brother, Jerry Carl Legg.

She grew up as the only girl in a household with three brothers, and they remained close all their lives. She graduated from Dickson High School in 1964, and attended the University of Tennessee at Nashville and Austin Peay State College in Clarksville, and graduated from the Tennessee School of Banking.

Brenda began her banking career September 1964, and retired in July 2010, spending her entire career at the Bank of Dickson.  In January 1976, Brenda was elected as the Assistant Cashier and rose to the position she held at retirement, Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.  Brenda remained a member of the Board of Directors for the Bank of Dickson and Dickson Financial Corporation from November 11, 1997, to the present. She exemplified what one would seek in a financial partner: stable, trustworthy, and professional, but she never lost sight of the fact that she was working with and for the people of her community. Brenda positively impacted so many lives at the Bank of Dickson, especially in young women and men she trained, not only in banking but also in work ethic, character and being good stewards of our community.

As a person deeply involved in her community and her church, she was supportive in all good causes of Dickson County and had a great interest in making Dickson a better place to live. Brenda was very active in the quests of the Chamber of Commerce. She faithfully supported First Baptist Church in Dickson and served on both Personnel and Finance Committees. She was a founding member of the Odds and Ends Sunday School Class where she chaired the Benevolent Fund which still today helps anyone in need from every corner of the world as well as locally. Brenda held various board appointments including: Habitat for Humanity, Dickson chapter; Horizon Medical Center; The American Cancer Society; The American Heart Association and for more than twenty years, she held various offices on the Board of Developmental Services of Dickson County. She also was supportive of the Nashville Rescue Mission.

Brenda was a loving and involved member of her family.  She is survived by her brothers Tommy Louis Legg of Camden and David Michael Legg, Sr. (Judy Anne) of Dickson; nephews, David Michael Legg, Jr. (Camille), Franklin, Tolbert Wolcott “Wolly” Legg, Nashville, Matthew Carlton Legg (Brittney), Birmingham, Al., Austin Tyler Legg, McEwen, and Brian Andrew Legg; great-nephews, David Michael Legg, III and Conrad Legg; great-niece, Carlton Legg, and a host of beloved and loving cousins.

Brenda lived her life through these words pinned by Mother Teresa, “The Good you do today, will be forgotten tomorrow. Do Good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.”
