Mr. Gentry was born on October 1, 1945 in Nashville, TN. He was a son of the late Thurman Martin Gentry and Laura Belle Pugh Gentry. Tommy was a Veteran, having served his Country in the U.S. Navy. He was proud of his service in law enforcement, that began in 1968 with the Nashville Police Department. Mr. Gentry was part of the motorcycle and canine divisions. He retired from the department as a detective in 1985. While living in Waverly he attended the Waverly First Freewill Baptist Church. Tommy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Robert Gentry.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patsy Bryan Gentry; his daughters, Lisa Annette Vaughn (Charles) of Ashland City, TN, Pamela Taylor of Dickson, TN, and Pattie Dunn (Jesse) of White Bluff, TN; his sister, Annette Shousha of Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Amber Tidwell, Andrew Tidwell, Lacee Hickerson, Katie Pierce, Molly Dunn, Tommy Dunn; great grandchildren, CJ, Jesse, and Gabriel; several nieces and nephews.
