Emily Alison Steward passed away Sunday evening, November 12, 2017, at home in Dickson, after a 5 year battle with sarcoma.  She was 40 years old.

Emily was born June 25, 1977, daughter of Michael Allen Steward and Lisa Carol Donegan.  She is survived by her mother, Lisa Donegan, step-father Carey Thompson, her brother Barrett (Sarah) Steward, her sister Kate (Todd) Brison, her beloved nephews, Jack and Colin Steward, grandfather Troy Graham Donegan, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Steward, her grandmothers, Patricia Marie Donegan and Vivian Taylor Baker and her precious feline friend, Kitty Boy.

Emily was passionate about theatre, music, and Alabama football, and politics.  She was outspoken and would never hesitate to let you know how she felt about any of the above, especially football and politics.  Her voice would shame the angels or Aretha Franklin, depending on what she was listening to that day.  She loved people and simply did not believe in strangers.  They were all just friends she had not met.  She was the kind of person who called every cashier at every store by their first name and could usually ask about their kids.

Emily did not believe any person or animal should be a stray.  She was all about the rescue.  She asked that any memorials be made to the Dickson County Help Center and the Dickson County Humane Society.

Also in keeping with Emily’s wishes, her earthly body will be cremated, and a celebration in her honor will be held at a date to be announced.
