Memorial services for Billie Sue “Susie” Lankford, age 64 of Nashville will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with her family members delivering the eulogy.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank.  Her remains will be interred privately on the family plot at Union Cemetery.  Susie died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville.

Susie, the daughter of the late Billy E. and Letha Garton Lankford, was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, where her father was stationed at the time.  The family moved back to Dickson in the late 1960’s where Susie graduated in the 1971 class of the former Dickson High School.  She received her BS in Elementary Education in 1974 from David Lipscomb University and taught for a brief but memorable few years at the old Burns Elementary School. She then went on to work for 37 years with the State of Tennessee, starting out in General Services. Some of her fondest memories were of her time with Photographic Services and later with the Office of Inspector General. Susie taught herself computer programming just as it was becoming a recognized field of study and had a geeky delight in writing code. Her interests were widespread, and she eagerly absorbed texts on history, archeology, and anthropology while also developing her musical, needleworking, and sewing skills. She showed her love for friends and family alike through meticulously crafted and personalized gifts that we now treasure all the more at her passing. She loved greatly and was greatly loved.  She was predeceased by her father, Billy E. Lankford; her mother, Letha Garton Lankford Petty; her step-father, Maurice Petty; and her sister, Sandra Lankford.

She is survived by her sister, Pat Lankford Bradley (Joe Millichap), Murfreesboro; three nieces, Jennifer Davis (Jason), Franklin, Jocelyn Delk (Joe), Ringgold, GA,  and Joanna Bradley (Levi Kennedy), Nashville; seven grand nieces and nephews, Joshua Davis, Julia Davis, Jordan Davis, Isaac Delk, Abigail Delk, Andrew Delk, and Rebekah Delk.
