     Funeral services for Edward Earl McCorpin, age 91 of Dickson, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Lee and Bro. Allen Weller officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 4th from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time.  For those desiring, memorials are suggested to Dickson First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center or to the Fellowship Sunday School Class. 

     Mr. McCorpin died peacefully Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home.  In 2015, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Pickett McCorpin.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Chris Greene, Scott Lee, Ken Walker, Lee Littleton, Joey Bratton and Jimmy Noland and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

     Born in Dickson County, Earl was the son of the late Claude and Beatrice Lyell McCorpin.  He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, Tech Sgt., 187th Infantry and Paratroopers.  He received the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), and Good Conduct Medal.  Earl retired as a Rural Mail Carrier from the United States Postal Service after 43 years of service.  He was a member of Lucien Berry Post #115 of the American Legion.   He was a long-time member of Dickson First United Methodist Church and its Fellowship Sunday School Class.  Earl loved the music of the church and was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir, God’s Love Chorus, and he especially loved Southern Gospel and sang tenor in several quartets.  After his retirement he ministered to many patients of the local nursing homes and led singing in their church services.  For years, he called many of his buddies on their birthday and sang Happy Birthday to them!  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and his church family and friends. 

            Survivors include his children, Donna Bratton and her husband, Bob; Pam Brock and her husband, David, all of Dickson; Jeff McCorpin and his wife, Kay, and Glenda Pace and her husband, Alan, all of Franklin; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a special cousin Earl considered a brother, Jack Work and his wife, Phyllis of Michigan; and very special friends, Brenda and Kenneth Walker and family.
