Howard E. "Bud" Reeder, 95 of Bon Aqua passed from this life on July 21, 2018.  Mr. Reeder was born on November 30, 1922, in Poughkeepsie, NY while his mother was there visiting. He was a lifelong resident of Metuchen, NJ and Bon Aqua, TN. He was the second son of Elizabeth and Howard Reeder, Sr.

Mr. Reeder was a 1941 graduate of Metuchen High School. Following high school, he went on to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. During World War II, Mr. Reeder served with the 97th Bomber Group in Italy; he flew a total of 51 missions as a Flight Engineer Gunner on a B-17 Bomber.

In 1950, he joined the Metuchen Police Department as a patrolman. He served with the Department for 30 years. While employed with the Metuchen Police Department, Mr. Reeder climbed the ranks and achieved the rank of Captain. He went on to move to Tennessee in 1984. 

While in New Jersey, he was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Edison, NJ. He most recently attended the “Friendly” Bon Aqua United Methodist Church. Mr. Reeder attended a host of schools while continuing his education: New Jersey State Police Training Academy, F.B.I. Training Courses, and training at Trenton State College.

Mr. Reeder was a member of numerous clubs and associations: Lifetime member of the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association Local #60, charter member of the Metuchen Racing Pigeon Club, Air Force Association, Lifetime Member of the Hickman County, TN Art Guild, Hickman County Habitat for Humanity, Oil Paintery Club, Lifetime Member of the Middlesex County Retired Police Officers, and member of the World War II Combat Air Crew Group Nashville, TN Chapter.

He is survived by two daughters, Kristine Reilly of San Rafael, CA, and Lisa Burns, of Prairie City, IA; his sister, Ann Tolley, of Metuchen, NJ; four granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Marie; his brother, Charles Reeder; and one sister, Nancy Saddler.
