There is a special request for those attending Marilyn’s service to bring their loving pet companions.

Marilyn, age 80, of Dickson, TN died peacefully June 19, 2019, at NHC of Dickson after a short stay.

She was born in Davidson County and was a lifelong resident of Dickson.  Marilyn was the daughter of the late Harry P. and Camille Freeman McCown and granddaughter of the late Ralph A. and Bessie Bright Freeman. Her family had deep roots in Dickson; her grandfather was the founder, owner, and operator of the Dickson Herald.  She was a 1957 graduate of Dickson High School.  Throughout her working life, she wore many hats.  She retired from Oakmont School as a secretary and bookkeeper with some 40 years of service.  Not only did she provide administrative support to the school system, she also was a mentor to a host of children.  She was a chaperone for the daycare center at Oakmont for several years and provided many young adults with guidance and life skills to succeed in life.  She had a passion for children and their welfare.  For many years, like her mother, she was a loyal, loving part of the Taylor Funeral Home family where she landed every day after school to “keep everyone in line.” She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Another great passion for Marilyn was animals.  There was never an animal that she didn’t love.  She showed compassion and kindness for every single animal.

She was a tender, nurturing mother and grandmother.  She loved her family and friends and was completely devoted to those she held dear.

Survivors include her three children, Tim White and wife, Sherri of Burns, TN, Jeff White and his companion, Ginger Wanamaker of Dickson, TN, and Heather White and her companion, Kevin Hickman of Nashville, TN; her four grandchildren, Bryan White and wife, Kathleen, Daniel White and wife, Lauren, Jenny Jessup and husband, Brandon, and Andrew White; her sister, Janice Simpson and her husband Wayne of Pleasant View, TN and Garrett Wanamaker.  Her only great-granddaughter; Gemma Jessup.
