Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Worley Furnace Cemetery in Dickson with Rev. Cora Alston officiating.

Mr. Gazell Holt, affectionately known as “Daddy Gazell”, was born June 6, 1953 in Dickson, TN to the union of Roy “Mike” and Allie Mae Holt. He entered peacefully into rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.

Gazell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Worley Furnace Baptist Church in Dickson, TN. He later united with New Birth Church in Dickson and was a musician (drummer) for a number of years. He was educated in the Dickson County School System.

Gazell was united in marriage to Frances Shelton on August 18, 1987. The two were married for over thirty-three years. He was employed for over twenty-two years at the Nemak Aluminum Foundry as a tow-mow driver. He was also a Dickson County Firefighter for several years.

Gazell loved to hunt, fish, workout, cycle, DJ, play tennis, and watching football. He was extremely competitive in everything he took part in. He was known for his strong triceps that were used to throw horseshoes and icy snowballs.

He leaves to cherish his memories his very loving and devoted wife, Frances Rippy-Holt; his mother, Allie Holt of Dickson; his daughter, Gazastasia Holt of Louisville, KY; his stepdaughters, Mia Rippy of Nashville and Desirie Rippy of Loganville, GA and also other sons and daughters; devoted brother, Melvin Roy Holt (Christy) of Dickson; brothers, Timothy M. Holt (Katrina) of Dickson, Michael L. Holt (Lori) of Nashville, Kenny Holt of Dickson, and Harry “Highway” Holt (Bea) of Dickson, and Melvin Roy Holt (Christy) of Dickson; his sisters, Paula Overton of Dickson, Dianna Fitts of Nashville and Debbie Adkins (Ricky) of Martin; his step-sisters, Catherine Owens of Indiana and Vicky Dixon of Dickson; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and great-grandchildren; and devoted friends, Ricky Newsom, Connie Maribel (Richard) Wells.
