 A graveside service will be held at Kimbro Cemetery on East Piney Road on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Peter Van Eys officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Elaine’s memory to the Kimbro Cemetery Fund c/o Sue Buckner, or Common Voices, an advocates’ coalition determined to create a Fire Safe America. (www.fireadvocates.org)  Donations may also be handled through Taylor Funeral Home to either organization.

Elaine Spann Kimbro, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. She was surrounded by Rex, her husband of 57 1/2 years and Vickie, her daughter. She was a loving wife, mother, Nana and friend. 

Elaine was born on June 29, 1943 and grew up in Dickson County. She was a graduate of Dickson High School, Class of 1962.  She lived in Robertson County, TN for 38 years before returning to Dickson County after Rex retired from Robertson Cheatham Farmer’s Cooperative. She was an avid homemaker and spent many years active in the Owens Chapel and Cross Plains Home Demonstration Club, which later became Family Community Education Club (FCE). She served as local and State President of the organization She One of her favorite things was singing in the Middle Tennessee Homemaker Chorus and spending time with her family. She will also be remembered by many as a wonderful hostess, whether traveling on a Co-op trip, joining the family at the kitchen table, or taking part in their annual 4th of July Kimbro barbecue. Elaine focused on taking care of others.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; daughter, Vickie Kimbro Pritchett; grandchildren Jenna Pritchett,  and Tanner (Tori) Pritchett; brother, Donnie (Carolyn) Spann; nieces Keri (Joel) Howell; Carla Spann; and brother-in-law Vollie (Rita-deceased) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Pauline Spann, and her sister-in-law, Rita Kimbro Miller.
