Funeral services for James Edward Buttrey, age 60 of Charlotte, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 from the Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church with Bro. Dave Lunsford officiating. Interment followed in the Jackson Cemetery. Masonic services were held at Taylor Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2011. A native of Dickson County, James was the son of the late Jessie E. and Bessie Luther Buttrey. He received his education in the Dickson County school system and worked as a superintendent in the construction business. He was a Master Mason at Dickson Lodge #468, FandAM and was a member of Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church. He formerly served on the cemetery association board of Jackson Chapel Cemetery. He was loved and respected by his family, friends, and his community. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Sesler Buttrey, Charlotte; two daughters, Angela Beth Buttrey, Dickson, and Jamie Lynn Riggs, Charlotte; granddaughter, Cadence Elizabeth Riggs, Charlotte; three sisters, Linda Griffin and her husband, Jimmy, Hendersonville, TN, Louise Bowker and her husband, Harold, Charlotte, and Elaine Heath and her husband, Eddie Wayne, Dickson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Buttrey and John Wayne Buttrey.
