Jack McIllwain

 Mr. Jack McIllwain, who was 84 years old of Vanleer, Tennessee died Friday, September 6, 2013.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 until 8 and on Monday from 10 until 2.  Masonic service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel.  Funeral services for Mr. Jack McIllwain will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Robert Cullom and John Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to Dickson Meals on Wheels, the Dickson County Help Center, or to the American Heart Association. 

A native of Perry County, Tennessee, Jack was the son of the late Carl Cooley and Opal D. Smith McIllwain.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corps between 1947 and 1951 during the Korean War.  Jack was married to Willodean Stanfill McIllwain, who preceded him in death in 2001.  He loved the land and was a farmer as well as being owner/operator of Jack McIllwain Dozer Work.  Numerous homes and farms in and around Dickson County have been improved by his work, whether by clearing the land, or digging footings and foundations, septic systems, or lakes and ponds.  He was a member of Vanleer United Methodist Church and a 50+ year member of Vanleer Lodge #319, F&AM.

Survivors include three sons, Gary McIllwain (Robin), Dickson, Phil McIllwain (Roxanne), and Dwight McIllwain (Teresa), all of Vanleer; two daughters, Sharon Porter, Dickson, and Donna Allen, Nashville; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Pate, Ryan McIllwain (Mandy), Jerrad McIllwain (Lyndsey), Kyle McIllwain (Amber), Trae McIllwain, Nicole Buttrey (Casey), Jessica Wall (Trevor), Cory Allen, Andrew Allen, and Willie Scott; nine Connor, Caroline, Jack, Milam, Dalton, Cole, Delaney, Elin, and Courtney.
