Funeral services for Vernon Mathies Eppes, age 85 of White Bluff will beheld at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Rye’s Chapel Cemetery in Montgomery County. His remains are in the care of Taylor Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Mr. Eppes died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at NHC Healthcare Center.

A native of Montgomery County, Vernon was the son of the late Hartwell and Mattie Jones Eppes. He retired from the former Schrader Automotive Parts and later worked at one of the convenience sites for the Dickson County Solid Waste Management. Mr. Eppes served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4641, Dickson.

Survivors include his son, Terry Eppes (Jan), Clarksville; two daughters, Nancy Wright, Dickson, and Tonya Waynick (Barry), Dickson; one sister, Mary Ellen Bulle, Southside, TN; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonya “Joey” Eppes.
