Gary Wayne Whaley
Date of Death or Service Feb 19, 2014
Gary Wayne Whaley, age 55, passed away at his residence in Charlotte TN on February 19, 2014.  Gary was the son of the late John Thomas "JT" and Edna Whaley. He graduated from Bellevue High school and was the long time owner of Whaley Body Shop in West Nashville. He and his wife Susan owned Sleep Professionals, a diagnostic sleep clinic in Clarksville TN where he acted as CFO.

Gary was most at peace when he was on the water fishing. He was proud to have built several hundred crappie beds to help with fish conservation and ensure others would be able to catch many fish there for years to come. He also found great joy in teaching others how to fish, especially young children.  He loved to travel to warm exotic places and experience different cultures and...to catch different types of fish.  Gardening was another passion of his and every year he would grow flowers from seeds in his greenhouse, and then share the seedlings with friends.  Gary was a hard worker and was happiest when he had a project underway. He would research and read and study different construction techniques and was greatly blessed with many talents.

Survivors include: wife, Susan Slayton Whaley; sisters, Patricia (Wayne) Hess, and Wanda (J.C.) Warren; daughters, Cheryl (Bryan) Gansner, and Beth Whaley. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Per Gary's adamant request, there will be no service or memorial. He asked that friends and family remember him fondly - and to think of the fun, goofy times shared - and to not cry over his passing because he is now in God's arms and reunited with his beloved parents.  Gary was also passionate about helping and saving animals and had rescued/adopted several pets from Metro Nashville Animal Control. Memorial donations in his name would be greatly appreciated: Metro Animal Control - 5152 Harding Place, Nashville TN 37211.

"So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you." John, 16:22
