Prentice Roscoe "P.R." Easterling, born November 8, 1938, passed on February 4, 2015 surrounded by family and friends.  A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Harbor Island Yacht Club, 100 Harbor Drive, Old Hickory, Tennessee. Please gather at 5:00 pm to share stories, pictures, laughter, and love. In P.R.’s honor a toast of his favorite scotch will be offered at 6:00 pm. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.


Born the son of a merchant marine, he spent his youth fishing on a salt water river in Pine Harbor, Georgia, where his lifelong love of the water began. Moving to Nashville as a young man, he graduated Vanderbilt University with a civil engineering degree. P.R. then joined the Navy attending OCS in Rhode Island. Serving 4 years in the Navy, he earned the Red E and rank of lieutenant. After his military service, P. R. completed his law degree at the Nashville School of Law. He spent his later years in Irving College, Tennessee where found his refuge. P.R. was a passionate writer, musician, accomplished sailor and dog whisperer. As a long standing member of Harbor Island Yacht Club, P. R. was a mentor to many, including a few ne’r do wells.

P.R. is survived by the mother of his children, Diane Briley Easterling, three daughters, Beverly (David) Caldwell, Beth (John) Marshall, Emily (Danny) Mayo, adored granddaughter Lena Katherine Mayo, his sister Jan Easterling Ramsay, and several dear nephews and nieces, beloved long time significant other Treva Goodwin, and devoted four legged companion, Duke.
