Patricia Jean Edwards Story, age 81 of Charlotte died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Wise Regional Health Service in Decatur, Texas.  A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Keitha Story-Stephenson and Rev. Clark Brown officiating.  Entombment followed in the Union Cemetery Mausoleum.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Story.

After a life of service and sacrifice, Jean spent her last days believing that God had one more thing she must do. In her valiant, life-ending struggle, she continued to inspire and encourage those around her. Her smile, her laughter, her insight assisted others in their journey of life's hardships.

Beloved mother and wife, Jean along with Kenneth, raised their two children, Keitha Story-Stephenson of Texas and Kelvin C. Story of Connecticut and their foster daughter, Debbie Jolliffe-Story. During their marriage, Jean and Kenneth offered in their home - shelter, support and love to over 100 children both here in America and in Canada. Jean remained in contact with many of those children throughout their lives.

Jean received honors throughout her life as she served as Past President for the Charlotte Lions Club, received the honor of Lion of the Year for seven years, Old Timer's Day Festival Grand Marshal 2006, Volunteer of the Year 1999, received The Sarah Cannon Cancer Center "Celebration of Life Award" and by the State of Texas Senate Resolution recognition of her award as Springtown Texas Women of the Year 1987. A cancer survivor, Jean participated in the Relay of Life Rally in both Tennessee and Texas. She served as President of the American Cancer Association of Dickson County. She was a founding member of the Quilter's Guild, a past Ambassador of the Dickson Chamber of Commerce and served as President of the Historical Club.

One of her greatest accomplishments was the formation of an outreach food and clothing center in Springtown, Texas. Neighbor's to Neighbor survives today as a premiere organization to meet the needs of those within the community.

Jean is survived by her son and his family, Kelvin and Dr. Robin Story of Connecticut, and daughters, Keitha Story-Stephenson and husband, Walter Stephenson of Paradise, Texas, and foster daughter Debbie Jolliffe-Story of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Laura, Katie and Ryan Story and Walt Stephenson Jr, Glennell Petersen and Tina Horn. Jean also has six step grandchildren.
