Edgar Ray “Dave” Davidson, age 72 of Charlotte, died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at his home.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 1pm until 8pm.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with clergymen and family officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery near Pegram.   For those desiring, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Born May 7, 1943 in Hickman County, Edgar was the son of the late Rollie Davidson and the late Beatrice Tidwell Davidson Larkins.  He served his country as a drill sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired as Production Scheduler for State Industries after 36 ½ years of service, and he was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.   “Dave” loved to watch and care for purple martins and hummingbirds.  He enjoyed making purple martin boxes, other birdhouses and feeders, and other wood-working projects.  His beloved cat, “Precious”, also occupied a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Edith Tucker Davidson, Charlotte; his children, Tonya Davidson Garner (and Kelly), Charlotte; and Darren Davidson and Patrick Davidson, both of Charlotte; his two grandchildren, Brian Davidson of Clarksville, Tyler Davidson of Fort Drum, NY; his brother, Earl Davidson (and Debbie), Dickson; several nieces and nephews.
