A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Taylor Funeral Home.  Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. 

Mr. Wayne Ray Plunk Sr., age 80 of Bon Aqua, TN died on April 25, 2019. 

Mr. Plunk was born March 19, 1939 in Jackson, TN, son of the late William Odis Plunk and Mamie Harris Plunk.  He served his Country in the United States Air Force.  Shortly after entering the service he joined in marriage with Betty Jean Fry, a journey that would last over 60 years.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee and began his working career with the Anderson Hickey Co., where he served as Union President.  He also worked as the Director of Industry for the State of TN, and as Associate Warden at the TN State Penitentiary also known as “The Castle”.  He later transferred to work at the Turney Center in Hickman, County.  After retiring from the Dept. of Correction he worked as a consultant at Carl’s Collision Center in Dickson, TN.  He was a hard working husband, family loving role model for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Odis Plunk and Mamie Harris Plunk; his daughter, Terri Tortorich; and his grandson, Billy Ray Plunk.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Fry Plunk; his children, Tammie Abell (Andy), Michael Plunk, Debbie Spurlock (Randy), Wayne Ray Plunk Jr. “Bubba” (Mary); his god daughter, Shannon Glynn; special sister, Linda Pearson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and their four legged fur baby, “Murphy”. 

The family of Mr. Plunk would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to the staff of Avalon Hospice for their kindness and care during Mr. Plunk's time of need.
