A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Burns Church of Christ with Bro. Matthew Hiatt and Bro. Donnie Craig officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Burns Church of Christ. A public reception will also be held after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Music Health Alliance, MusiCares, Alive Hospice, The Opry Trust Fund, or the Nashville Humane Association.

Charles Frederick Dauphin, III, better known to most as “Chuck” or “Crazy Chucky” passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN. He was 45. Dauphin was born on February 17, 1974 to Charles F. “Charlie” Dauphin, Jr. and the late Paulette Clymer Dauphin in Dickson, TN.  He was a graduate of Dickson County High School in the class of 1992. He was also a member of the Burns Church of Christ. He was a loving stepfather, a loyal friend and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. In a recent article, entertainment publication, Variety, called Chuck “the undisputed sweetheart of country music journalism.”

His dream of being a professional radio host came about in 1991 when he earned his first job as a radio personality with WDKN in Dickson, TN. Chuck received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career as a writer, radio host, and journalist; his most notable being in 2014 when he was awarded the CMA Media Achievement Award for his excellence in country music journalism.

An honorable quote by one of Country Music’s greats, Randy Travis, sums up the life of Chuck Dauphin. "If ever you needed a friend... or a kind word... you could count on Chuck Dauphin. A gentleman through all the years of my career, who always focused on the best in everyone. Chuck was a gift to this world and leaves us all better because he crossed our paths. Rest now in peace and perfect health, Brother Chuck — Forever and Ever, Amen."

In addition to his mother, Paulette Dauphin, he was preceded in death by his uncles, Del Roberts and Jim Chaplin; his aunt, Peg Dauphin; his cousin Doug Harbers; and several four-legged companions including Lassie, Brownie, and Chloe.

Survivors include his father and his stepmother Marcia of Savanna, Illinois; his stepchildren, Zach Heath and Isabella Heath; his stepbrother, Lyle Klein and his wife DeeDee; his stepsister, Deanna Deal and her husband Eric; his uncle, Burt Dauphin; two aunts, Diana Chaplin and Gloria Roberts; as well as several cousins and lifelong friends.

Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Beasley, Mickey Bunn, Jason Grove, Randall Kimbro, Dr. Bryan McAlister, Randy Tidwell Dale Turner, Michael Bishop, Devin Pickard, Wayne Baker, TG Sheppard, and Shane Buchanan. Also serving as a memorial honorary pallbearer is the late Pappy Estes.
