A funeral service is planned for Friday, November 1, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Living God in Nashville with Elder James Travis officiating. Visitation with the family will take place on Thursday, October 31 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home with a Masonic Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment, with military honors, will take place in the National Cemetery on Gallatin Pike in Nashville.

Richard Horner, age 75, of Dickson passed away on Saturday, October 26 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was born in Nashville, TN on December 11, 1943, to the late Pompie Horner, Jr. and Samuella McDowell Horner. Richard proudly served his country for 8 years in the United States Air Force and later joined the National Guard where he also served for many years.

He belonged to the Rising Sun #49 Masonic Lodge in Dickson. He was employed by Tennsco as a spot welder and press operator for many years. Mr. Horner was also well known as an umpire in the Dickson County Youth Athletic Association, as well as a faithful member of the Church of the Living God in Nashville.   

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Elizabeth Clarke.

Survivors include his wife of many years, Judy A. Davis Horner; his son, Tony Lemont Horner of Dickson; his brothers, James Horner and Pompie Horner, III both of Nashville; his sisters, Mary Louise Horner of Nashville, Annie Mai Horner Dangerfield of Nashville, Arnita Lynette McAdoo of Nashville, and Esta Faye Golden of Memphis; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
