JOHN 14:1 LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED; YOU BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME.

There will be no formal funeral services as he preached his own funeral for the past 78 years. There will be a public visitation at Taylor Funeral Home on Friday, September 18th and Saturday September 19th  each day between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A private graveside will be held for family only.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Camp Leatherwood Building Fund, Box 562, White Bluff, TN 37187 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

David Grey Peeler went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Davidson County on January 21, 1942, son of Edward and Ruby Baker Peeler, he moved to Dickson and graduated from Dickson High School in 1960.  After graduation he attended David Lipscomb University, Austin Peay State University and Tennessee State University. He started preaching in 1966 and continued for 41 years, officiating many weddings and funerals, until his health made it too challenging.  His career as a contractor and builder as well as educator, was balanced with his love of song leading, farming, hunting (particularly squirrels), coaching (basketball and baseball) and especially fishing.

His generous spirit was evident to everyone who partook of his many fish fries, the fruits of his abundant gardens, and the many times he reached out to others in his service to the Lord.  He also shared his love of watching sports, his train collection and simply sitting on the patio watching the ever present nature up on ‘Peeler Mountain’.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Davidson Peeler, daughter Cindi Gardner (Joe Grane) of Palm Harbor, FL and son, Todd Peeler (Sherry Beth) of Bon Aqua. He has 3 granddaughters, Chasity Hall, Amber (Cody) Davis and Lindsey Foster, one grandson, Logan Peeler and one great granddaughter, Kylie Grace Hall. He also leaves behind a brother, Wade (Brenda) Peeler, an aunt Barbara Cassell, one niece and 3 nephews. He was blessed with so many close hunting and fishing buddies and many “children” from WJMS and churches where he served.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Elaine and Larry Toy and his special aunt, Emma Baker Greer.

JOHN 14:6  JESUS SAID TO HIM, I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NOT ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.
