Born in Dickson County, Bro. Houston was the son of the late Walter A. and Cora Frances Buttrey Tidwell. He put the Lord first in his life, followed closely by his love for his family. His wife of nearly 75 years, Bertie Mai Tidwell, preceded him in death on September 17th. He proudly witnessed for his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ by serving as Pastor and preaching the Gospel at the House of the Lord Church until his age and infirmities made it difficult for him to continue in that role. He “passed that torch” to his son-in-law, Bro. Stuart Brooks, who currently serves the Church in that capacity. For many years, he was bi-vocational as a skilled auto-body shop specialist for Bob Frensley Ford. He also had life-long interests in farming, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors.
“His Lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21-23
