Montez Bates Jenkins, age 94 of Dickson, TN died November 19, 2020. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jenkins Family Cemetery, in care of Nancy Huddleston, 5525 Big East Fork Road, Franklin, TN 37064 or charity of your choice.

Montez was born May 15, 1926 in Lobelville, TN. She was the daughter of Henry Arthur Bates and Nora Kelly Bates. Montez follows her loving husband of 48 years, Lum Jenkins, her Son In-Law Carl (Skip) Patton, brothers Henry Arthur Bates, Jr and Billy Bates.

Montez was very active during her years in Denver, CO (50+ years). She was a member of Denver Symphony Guild (served as President twice), The Denver Art Museum, Children’s Diabetes Foundation and The National Symphony Association. With serving her civic activities she was always supportive of her family...Lum and Andra.

She and her husband owned Cates First Avenue, a women’s fine apparel specialty store in Denver.

Montez was the ultimate hostess for family, friends, organizations, and business associates. Entertaining at home she was fantastic in the kitchen.

Her main passion was family first, hand quilting...which she won many awards for. She traveled extensively all over the world and cherished the times she spent in Destin with family and her fishing trips to Canada with her new family....The Patton’s.

To know her was to love her and her zest for life.

Montez is survived by her loving daughter, Andra Jenkins-Patton of Dickson, TN. They were best friends.

She is also survived by numerous family members from The Jenkins, The Bates and The Patton’s families.

Montez would want to give her love and thanks to the Jenkins Family, friends and staff at the Olive Branch, Crystal Bumbalough, Tammy Tidwell as well as her long- time special friend Richard Wheatley.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful family of Covid workers at Horizon. They made Montez’s transition so much easier. Very special thank you to, Charlotte Brown, David Page, Dr. Rahman and Dr. Alsoub.

Rest In Peace mom and be with Dad.
