Lawrence, age 72, died April 17, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He was born in the old Jackson Clinic in Dickson, TN to the late Bertie Leon and Mary Jean Marshall Gentry. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Lawrence attended school in White Bluff, TN. Lawrence was a meter reader with Greater Dickson Gas Authority and has worked with them for some 23 years.
He had a passion for drag racing which brought to him lots of fun and joy. Lawrence was a collector of hot rods and loved the mechanics of each one of them. He loved guns and before his health began to fail, he did all of the barbecuing for his wife’s restaurant, Hog Heaven in White Bluff.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Leathers Gentry of Dickson, TN; his two sons, Brandon Gentry of White Bluff, TN and Steven Gentry of Charlotte, TN; his step children, Richard Felts and Cisi Choate both of Dickson, TN; his 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his brother, Johnny Gentry of Burns, TN and his two sisters, Martha Root of Florida and Tonya Bennett of Hartsville, TN. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Gentry and Gale Gentry.
