Murray E. Body Jr., age 79, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Florida. He was born on July 17, 1941 in Pampa, Texas to the late Murray E. Body Sr. and Virginia L. Jeffries Body.

As a child, Murray’s family moved many times for his father’s job.  He started high school in Turkey, but convinced his parents to allow him to return to the United States to finish. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri.  He briefly attended Texas Tech and was drafted into the Army in 1963, where he served two years.  His fondest childhood memory was living with his grandparents every summer in Pampa, Texas and visiting the family cabin in the Rocky Mountains.

Murray, like his father, moved quite a bit during his career.  In 1978 his career finally settled at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville, TN.  He spent the next 20 years providing for his family, and enjoying life. In 1998, he met Terry (Theresa) and on November 19, 2004 they married. They enjoyed many years of traveling, boating and watching wildlife. Many of his happiest times were spent with his family and friends on his boat the Body Snatcher out on Old Hickory Lake. He was a practical jokester. He loved playing jokes on people and telling jokes to everybody.

In 2007, he retired from International Service System and in 2015, he and Terry moved to Port Richey, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his step-son Bruce Allen Johnston and his best buddy Jack.

He is survived by his wife Terry (Theresa) Johnston of Port Richey FL; his sister Carol Templeton of Jonesboro, AR; his two sons Drue Gage (Karen) of Bedford, TX and Murray E. Body III (Tammy) of Columbia, TN; his two daughters Bonnie Sensing (Steve) of Burns, TN and Mendi Lassiter (Rodney) of Buchanan, TN; his step-son Dale Johnston; and 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
