CMSgt. Thurman Dorris Waggoner (USAF Ret.), 92, died Friday, September 10th at Horizon Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Waggoner will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday 17^th, day of September 2021 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Brother Gary Riley officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am until service time. Burial with military honors will be at the  Williams Cemetery in White Bluff, TN.

 He retired in May 1978 after more than 29 years of military service.

He entered the Air Force in January 1949. His initial assignment was in the Accounting and Finance Office at Keesler AFB. He remained there for four years before transferring to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

He was a special agent with that organization for the remainder of his military career. He was on loan to the Department of Defense for a three-year period in 1972-75 where he assisted in planning, organizing, and implementing the Defense Investigative Service.

 He was stationed in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, the District of Columbia, Morocco, and Okinawa. His investigative duties required him to travel throughout the United States and to fourteen foreign countries.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, and the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star.

 He graduated from the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University in 1962 and received a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and correction from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1969.

 He held life memberships in the Association of Former OSI Special Agents, Air Force Sergeants Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Society of the Pen and Sword, Lambda Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and American Philatelic Society.

 He was proceeded in death by his wife Josephine; brother, Gerald; sister, Bessie Corlew; niece Vikki Waggoner.  He is survived by three nephews and one niece.
