Mrs. Tidwell, age 97, of Burns, TN died peacefully October 3, 2021 at her home with her family present.

Eula Tidwell was born in Brown Hollow in Hickman Co., TN. to William and Mary Jane “Molly” Hudgins, on August 8, 1924.

She was next to the last child of 13 siblings.

When Eula was a little girl, she began honing her sewing skills as she made clothes and bonnets for her Doll.

As a teenager, she worked in the National Youth Association Program, (NYA) as a Seamstress.

In her early 20’s she began working at Henry I. Segal Pants Factory in Dickson, TN.  During the work week she boarded at Ms. Bess’ Boarding House on West College St. She enjoyed early Main St Dickson and getting “Penny Pictures” made with her Sisters and Friends.

During WWII she sewed Military Pants and Hospital Gowns.

Eula met the love of her life, Snow Byrd Tidwell, at the Dickson Co. Fair. They soon became inseparable. The two married, November 4, 1950 and bought their 1st house on West College St in Dickson.

A few years later they moved to Nashville, TN. where they bought a house on Electric Av. in East Nashville.

Eula then began working at Horace Small Pants & Uniform Co. where she became a Master Seamstress and often trained and helped new employees.

Eula and Snow had two little girls and that’s when her profession went from Seamstress to Full Time Mother.

As a Stay at Home Mom, she made sure both her daughters could read and write at the age of 4 and she made those early years some of the best by playing games with her girls and neighborhood children.

In 1972, Eula and Snow moved back to Dickson Co where they had life long friends, wonderful neighbors and attended Pomona Church of Christ and Walnut Street Church of Christ.

She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and fiercely loved her Family. She will be sorely missed.
