Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Parker Fowlkes Cemetery with Bro. Matthew Hiatt officiating.

Charlie Cleveland Markus, age 78, of Burns, TN passed from this life on October 13, 2021, at Tri-Star Natchez ER in Dickson. He was born on February 28, 1943, in Lawrence County, TN to the late Willie Neal and Viola Davis Markus.

Charlie worked for many years as a truck driver, most recently for Yellow Freight, and was a member of the Teamsters Union for over 30 years. He was also a faithful member of the Burns Church of Christ, having volunteered as a truck driver for the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief for 14 years.

He and his wife, Linda were proudly married for over 56 years. Charlie loved working with chainsaws, bird hunting, and everything to do with truck driving; but he was most proud of his granddaughters, who he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Edward Markus and Willie Neal Markus, Jr; his sisters: Iva Neal Markus and Mabel McGee; and his grandchild: Karson Marie Jones.

Survivors include his loving wife: Linda Newton Markus, of Burns; his son: Ken Markus (Tiffanie) of Nashville; his daughters: Kim Jones (Kevin) of Burns, and Katrina McCampbell (Gabe) of Soddy Daisy, TN; his brother: James Markus of Lawrenceburg; his sisters: Mary Andrews of Lawrenceburg, Neva Smith of Franklin, and Kathy Barton of Noblesville, IN; his granddaughters: Emma Markus, Kassidy Little (Trey), Reilly Jones, Kristen McCampbell, and Sarah McCampbell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
