Graveside services and interment for Evelyn Wall Goodman, age 74 of White Bluff, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Taylor Town Cemetery in White Bluff.  Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  She died, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Dickson County.

Born in Cumberland Furnace, TN, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Cecil and Virtress Burney Wall.  She was a graduate of the former Charlotte High School and  graduated from business college in Nashville.  She has worked for the phone company, was a legal secretary for the late Roger White, and had received her real estate license and worked for Charles Woodard and Associates.  She was smart and could have done most anything with her education; but she honored her husband’s wishes and remained a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker for most of her life.

Evelyn was a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ.  She loved to cook and to bake and she was amazing at both. She loved to garden and share with others the bounty from it.  Evelyn loved flowers and was known in her community for her beautiful Iris gardens.  She also loved to fish:  pond fish, river fish; it didn’t matter.  She loved the outdoors and she loved to ride the place on her mule.  She especially loved her grandchildren and supported them in their events whenever she could.  Evelyn was very sociable, friendly, and kind.  People would tell her children, “I just LOVE your Mama!”

For many years she enjoyed bowling.  Bowling is where she met her husband, Raymond “Bugs” Goodman, who preceded her in death in 2003.  She was good at bowling and held many records for high games at the Bowl-O-Rena.  Evelyn also loved to play cards with her friends.  She had many wonderful, loyal friends whom she dearly loved.  And she loved her animals.  Strays came and stayed:  not just because she fed them, they just seemed to be “drawn” to her.

Finally, Evelyn was the “guardian” of her family:  she watched over the comings and goings of her children and grandchildren.  Not in a nosy or suspicious way, but in a loving, caring, and concerned way.  “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.”  Proverbs 31:27

Survivors include her children, Tracie Brown (and Brent) and Steven Goodman, White Bluff; her sister, Frances Wall Kilian, Cumberland Furnace; grandchildren, Logan Brown and Laken Brown; nieces and nephews, Faye, Glen, Diane, Jeff, Donnie, Debbie, Patty, Pam, Mark, Michael, Junior, Mary Kay, and Doloras.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Leone Wilson and Ethel Hayes and by niece and nephews, Bobby, Ann, and Charles.
