 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Nathan Wilkerson will officiate.  Place of rest will be in the Parker Fowlkes Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening, November 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Erma Hannah Tidwell, age 89, of Bon Aqua, TN died peacefully November 10, 2021 at NHC of Dickson after a short stay.

She was born in Van Lear, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Blair Hannah. She was the widow of the late James Harold Tidwell who died in 2001. They were married almost 50 years at the time of his death. Erma was also preceded in death by her brother Jarrell and her sisters, Elloween, Betty, Mary, Phyllis, and Sue.

Erma was a good wife to James and a loving and supportive mom to Jerry, Ricky, and Sandra. She loved spoiling her seven grandchildren and her 18 great-grandchildren. Erma was a good homemaker and an excellent cook, even though she didn’t like to cook. She attended the New Hope Baptist Church.

The Tidwell’s owned the former Tidwell’s Grocery Store on Highway 100, and she owned and operated a clothing store named Tidwell Family Center in Ashland City, TN.

Erma had a great love for bluegrass music and gospel music. She played in several bands over the years, the Modern Bluegrass Band and the last band she played with was the Retreads.  She offered up her beautiful tenor voice and her talent playing the upright bass.

Survivors include her three children; Dr. Jerry Tidwell and his wife, Joan, Ricky Tidwell and his wife, Angela, and Sandra Harrison and her husband, Jerry, all of Bon Aqua, TN, her 7 grandchildren; Martha, Brandon, Brittny, Will, Josh, Blake, and Lindsay, her 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters; Noralean James of Michigan, Juanita Rohr of Van Lear, Ky, and Fran Colvin of Van Lear, Ky.
