 Joe Fred Youree, formerly of Dickson, TN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 13, 2021.  He was 91 years old.

 Born on January 5, 1930 to the late George and Mary Youree, Joe grew up on his family’s farm near Woodbury, TN.  He graduated from Middle Tennessee State College in 1952. While attending college, he met the love of his life, Alberta“Penny”Pennington, and married her on January 7, 1956.  They were married for 59 years.

 After serving in the navy for four years and working for the K.F. Kline Company for two years, he was employed by Tennsco Corporation in Dickson, TN from 1962 to retirement in 1996.  He was hired as an accountant and retired as executive vice president.  In 1987, he received the Business Leadership Award from the Dickson County Chamber of Commerce.  Joe loved Dickson and contributed enthusiastically to his community.  He was a charter member and a past president of the Dickson Civitan Club and a member of the Rotary Club, where he was Rotarian of the year (1996–1997 and 2008–2009) and a Paul Harris Fellow.  He served on the boards of the Dickson Housing Authority, the Activity Committee of the Jackson Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and United Way.  He and his wife also delivered Meals on Wheels for over 15 years.  Joe attended the First United Methodist Church in Dickson.

 He enjoyed beautiful flowers and gardening, travel (he and Penny visited every U.S. state except Idaho), good food, and spending time with friends and family.

 He is preceded in death by his wife, Penny, his brother, James Robert Youree, and his sister, Sarah Ruth Willhite.  He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann Stokes (Michael) of New Market, AL; son, Roger Kent Youree (Susan) of Madison, AL; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Daigneault (Brad), Kathryn Anne Carlisle (Charles), Emily Elizabeth Youree, Charles Joseph Youree; great-grandchildren, Youree Gail and David MichaelDaveyDaigneault; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 Visitation will be on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, TN, followed by services at 1:00 p.m.  Place of rest will be in the Union Cemetery.  To view a livestream of the service on Friday at 1:00 p.m., please click HERE.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dickson First United Methodist Church CLC fund and the American Cancer Society.
