Edward "Moe" Denham Moerschel slipped the surly bonds of earth December 23, 2021, heading home to Glory and a reunion with dear ones gone before. Born to Edward Christian and Mardi Denham Moerschel on September 22, 1944 in Seattle, WA, Moe was a child prodigy. He began his musical journey at age 6 on piano, then switched to the Hammond B3 organ at age 11.

Moe was a veteran of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) of the US Air Force, guarding B-52 bombers. He followed his flight-line time as a Maine State Trooper. He turned his smooth voice to radio next, first as a disc jockey at various stations and eventually as news director at WGNS in Murfreesboro, TN. Music held his heart. Moe performed internationally over 50 years, sharing his remarkable talent and wacky humor with the likes of Tony Joe White, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Wes Montgomery, Les McCann, Joey DeFrancesco, Warren Haynes, Jack Pearson and more. He was a quintessential player and selfless mentor. Moe is survived by a host of old musical friends near and far, whom he loved and supported as they did him.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Brenda Hunt Best, Moe leaves to cherish his memory his wife Susan; daughters Beth Moerschel and Kate Moerschel; grandchildren Michael Moerschel, Jordan Moerschel, Jessica Fry and Alexis Stonesifer; and step-grandchildren Steven Fry III, Travis England, Jeremiah Brewer, Kassidy Lovell and Kaycie Lovell.

No immediate services are planned. A Celebration of Life will be held Spring, 2022, to honor the extraordinary life of this amazing man.
