Mr. Edward Lee “Poppa Ed” Mitchell, age 83, of Charlotte, TN died at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville on June 16, 2022 after a short stay.
He was born in Hickman County, son of the late Robert Lee and Frances Luallen Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Shirley Sanders and Sandra Carroll and his brother; J. R. Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was married to Brenda Sue Batey Mitchell for 52 years at her death in 2017.
He and his late brother, J. R. Mitchell owned and operated Mitchell Dry Wall for some 40 years. He took such pride in his work and knew his business well. He was a fixture and a regular visitor at the Ridge Market. He had the talent of being able to build and do anything, once building a boat for his daughter, Hollie. During the summer months he could be found perched in his swing enjoying life during his retirement days. One of his greatest moments in life was being Poppa Ed to his pride and joy of a grandson, Ty. One of his favorite pieces of advice to friends and family was “Don’t take any wooden nickels”. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Iron Masonic Lodge #503 in Cumberland Furnace.
He is survived by his daughter, Hollie Angelino and her husband, Terry of Charlotte, TN, his grandson and his pal, Ty Angelino of Charlotte, TN, his sister; Marie Smith of Cottontown, TN.
