Minnie Lee Jones, age 99 and just 5 months shy of her 100th birthday, of Dickson, TN died peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at NHC of Dickson.

She was born in Dickson County, one of fifteen children of the late Arthur and Hautie Murphy Jones.  She was an assistant manager of the former Vogue Store in Downtown Dickson.  She was the widow of the late Ernest Waltrup Jones, a longtime Dickson car salesman, who died in 2000. Minnie was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by two sons Ernest Ray Jones and Phillip Wayne (Phil) Jones. Also preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and seven sisters.

Minnie was a loving and caring wife, mother to her three boys and grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren were very special to her especially getting to keep them after school which gave her spoiling time with them. She was truly a people person, very social with an inviting personality and was always busy and on the go.  Minnie never learned to drive but always had a ride.  Minnie loved life to its fullest, playing bingo, and doing trips to the “boat” for a little light gambling. She loved a good joke whether on the wall of off the wall joke. She loved to hear one and loved to tell one. Minnie always loved her trips and traveling.

Minnie best expressed her love for family and friends in her delicious cooking and baking. At any given day she decided to cook and when the word got out of the “Minnie Cooking” sometimes some twenty-five people might show up to eat.

Minnie was an avid bowler.  At the Bowl-A-Rena she bowled for S.E.R.A, George’s Barber Shop and Porter Brothers, all businesses of the past and at the newer Thunder Alley she bowled with Choate’s Collision Center.

Survivors include her son; Ronald Gene (Ronnie) Jones and his wife, Marsha of Dickson, TN, her daughter-in-law; Gail Jones Walker and her husband, Tom, her grandchildren; Corey Jones, Brad Jones, Cassie Perales and Travis Greer. Her 10 great grandchildren; Katie Greer, Quentin Greer, Keith Greer, Eli Greer, Sylvie Lou Jones, Taygen Smith, Marley Jones, Lillie Jones, Brayden Dale Perales and Kizzi Perales. Several special nieces and nephews.
