Mrs. Edna Faye McDaniel Vaughn, 79, died after a brief illness on August 11, 2022, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. Born in Bon Aqua, TN on September 8, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Mae Harbison Brown and Carl McDaniel. Faye was a highly active member of Burns Baptist Church here in Dickson before moving to Dallas, GA to be near her daughter, Becky.

Faye retired in 2019 from a fulfilling career at Nashville State Community College where she worked as a computer technician in the library for 33 years. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the students who came into the library as well as teaching computer classes for non-traditional students. When not working at Nashville State, Faye could often be found spending time with beloved family and friends. She enjoyed volunteering to serve at Burns Baptist and had a special place in her heart for the children and youth. For years, Faye taught Sunday School to elementary age children and made sure each member of her class had a Bible. Even when her days of teaching ended, if someone needed a Bible, he or she could always count on obtaining one from “Ms. Faye.” She was a proud member of the 1960 graduating class of Dickson High School and enjoyed getting together with her fellow classmates to reminisce and catch-up.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Vaughn; her beloved son, James Robert Turner; and her brothers, Robert Carlton McDaniel, and Ronald Kelly McDaniel.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Chester (Jim) and granddaughter, Hannah, of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Shirley McDaniel, of Cleveland, TN, a niece and three nephews and numerous cousins.

For those desiring memorials, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Burns Baptist Church, 2308 TN-96, Burns, TN, 37029.
