Born on May 10, 1951 in Roanoke, VA, June was the daughter of the late Claude Martin “Sonny” Johnson Jr. and Loleta June Phlegar. June graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor’s of Psychology and went on to work toward her Master’s Degree. Although love of family was paramount, she found a passion in teaching and working as a substitute teacher in Dickson County, TN. She loved her students and found other teaching opportunities through Sunday School and mentorship. June was, at heart, an advocate for social justice. June found comfort in the natural world and the animals who loved her.
June is survived by beloved daughters, Sonora Marcia Goodsell of Burns, TN and Loleta June Frazier Carney of Whitehouse, TX; sisters, Crystal Lee Johnson of Bedford, VA, and Kim Lorette Blankenship of Marietta, GA; brothers, Claude Martin “Marty” Johnson III, and Joel Stephen Blankenship of Nashville, TN; and 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews. June is also survived by her cherished bonus children, Tamara Schubert of AR and John Arthur Burnett, Jr. of Burns, TN.
