Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Baggett officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ Youth Group or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mildred Elaine Cotton Beard, age 80, of Cumberland Furnace, TN, passed away October 16, 2022 at her home.
Born in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Denzel Cotton and Mabel Turner Cotton. “Memaw” had worked as a clerk and supervisor for AT&T and was married to the late William Boyd Beard, Sr. She had been a member of Telephone Pioneers and Walnut Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers; Billy & Byron Cotton and her sister Joyce Bizzell.
Survivors include her son; William Boyd “Bill” Beard, Jr. (Jan), daughter; Lisa Beard Harris, sister; Carolyn Qualls (Dale), Annette Davidson, grandchildren; Chelsea Tucker (Shawn), Will Beard, Shelby Martin, great-grandchildren; Marley Tucker, and Leilani Martin.
