Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday November 10, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church in Bon Aqua, TN with Bro. Nathan Wilkerson and Bro. James Parham officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Bon Aqua, TN, where Military Honors will be rendered.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at New Hope Baptist in Bon Aqua, TN and again Thursday November 10th from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
The family is asking that memorial contributions be made to New Hope Cemetery c/o the New Hope Baptist Church in Bon Aqua, TN.
Gerald Delano Pendergrass, age 86 of Bon Aqua, TN passed away November 8, 2022 at his home.
Gerald entered this life on October 14, 1936, in Bon Aqua, Tn to the late Carroll Campbell, Nellie Irene Pendergrass, and stepmother, Rachel Sullivan Pendergrass. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard and the United States Army. Gerald married the love of his life, Barbara on March 28, 1959, and they had four boys, Robert Glenn, Jerry Ashley, Charles Edward, and Carroll Lynn. One of Gerald’s greatest joys was coaching his boys in baseball. He was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as song leader. Gerald retired from Ferro Chemical and worked construction. He had a love for bird hunting, camping, where he engineered many campers, and working on the farm that he and Barbara worked so hard for.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Charles Edward Pendergrass and Carroll Lynn Pendergrass; brothers, Carroll Henry and Anthony Wayne Pendergrass, and sister Neva Christine Buttrey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Cochran Pendergrass; sons, Robert Glenn Pendergrass and his wife Phoebe, Jerry Ashley Pendergrass and his wife Nina; grandchildren, Kayla Van Aken (Mark), Samantha Bardin (James), Hannah Thomason (Cody), Datin Pendergrass and Gracie Pendergrass; great-grandchildren, Brody Van Aken and Riley Thomason; brothers, David Carter Pendergrass and Thomas Henry Sullivan.
