 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bo Johnson and Bill McDonald will officiate, music by Josh Johnson and Michael Popham. Visitation will be on Friday, November 11th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 and on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Wrigley Cemetery.

 Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Wrigley Cemetery Fund, please make these donations to United Community Bank in Lyles, TN. 

 Henry Hugh Bledsoe, age 88, of Bon Aqua, TN died peacefully November 7, 2022 at Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center with his daughters by his side.

 He was born in Dickson County, Tennessee son of the late Aubrey D. and Norvia Hutcheson Bledsoe. He was one of twelve children to this union. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Gladys Dedman, Aladee Tidwell, Beatrice Spencer, Harlan Bledsoe, Harvey Bledsoe, Grace Tidwell, Delmer Bledsoe, Willis Bledsoe, Hooper Bledsoe and Flora Odell Bledsoe. He was a graduate of Dickson High School and retired as a construction inspector for several companies including Hardaway Construction and Allman Construction. One of his most memorable projects was the former Opryland Theme Park where he was heavily involved in its development.

 He was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and Vanderbilt Commodore Basketball fan. In his early years he loved to play baseball, even once called to pro ball but didn’t try out. In the days of Wrigley, Tennessee baseball, he was nick named the “Big Ox.” Marie Martin had captured his heart and marriage was in their sight. He and Marie were married for 61 years until her death in June 2016.

Henry Bledsoe had a servant’s heart. He cared for Marie during the last years of her life. Marie being one of the singing Martin Sisters, Henry was always her biggest fan. Their three greatest assets were Vickie, Angie and Mitzy, and later the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a kind, gentle, southern gentleman who served as a rock for his family. He was his girls first valentine and hero. A couple of his favorite sayings were “All my boys were gals” and “This is Hen checking in”.

He spent numerous hours during his retirement in his yard and gardening.  He loved mowing and keeping his yard pristine. His family will remember his legacy of being a honorable, loyal and strong role model for them to follow. A good husband to Marie and a good father, grandfather and brother.

 The Bledsoe family would like to acknowledge his special caregivers; Kim Griffin, Cheryl Allen, Joseph Wills, Jane Neal, Gayle Potts, Carlene Norman and Juanita Medders for all of their love that they extended to him and to his family during the past couple of years.  Also to the doctors and staff of Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center, Home Care Solutions and NHC for their compassion and their tender hands of care.

 Survivors include his three daughters; Vickie Roder and her husband Ronnie of Dickson, TN, Angie Bledsoe of Bon Aqua, TN, and Mitzy Griffin and her husband Gerald of Bon Aqua, TN, his four grandchildren; Mario Roder and his wife Stacy, Paige Myatt and her husband Chad, Roxanne Roder and Ella Grace Griffin, his great grandchildren; Anna, Malachi, Morgan, Jenna, Wyatt, Levi and Alyssa, his brother; Doug Bledsoe of Dickson, TN , his brother-in-law; Buddy Martin of Columbia, TN and a very special long-time friend; Phillip Daughtery, Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Casket Bearers will be Mario Roder, Chad Myatt, Malachi Dawson, Marc Stone, Eric Vanetta, Austin King, and Tim King. Honorary casket bearers will be Jackie Bledsoe, Danny Bledsoe, Ricky Bledsoe, John Bledsoe, Russ Bledsoe, Damon Jones, and Michael Wayne Thomason.
