Patricia Ruth Engele, age 79 of Dickson, TN died on November 13, 2022.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the St. Christopher Catholic Church.  Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Home with a Rosary Service being held at 6:00 p.m. Place of rest will be at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Patricia was born in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Henry Edward and Elsie Katherine Kelsey.  She was born with club feet and was able to walk after many surgeries performed at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  She never let this slow her down, but had a fighting spirit, wanting to do what everyone else did, and had joy in the face of struggles.

After high school she worked for American Airlines as a reservations agent and was able to fly to areas served by the airlines.  One of those trips took her to Hawaii where she met her future husband in 1968.  They married on February 1, 1969.  After that she lived in eight different states and worked for the Dept. of the Army, the Dept. of the Navy, and the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, from which she retired after 34 years of Civil Service.  She then moved to Tennessee in 2010.

Patricia loved animals, especially cats, at one time having six of them in the house.  Many of them were rescues.  She loved to do jigsaw puzzles and cross stitch.  She loved God and our Savior Jesus and supported the work of the Catholic Church until God took her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 6 brothers and sisters, Eleanor Wojcik, Robert Kelsey, Helen Steffenhagen, Dorothy Purdy, Kathleen Ehlert and Henry Kelsey, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leo Engele; her son, Mark Engele; her daughter, Jennifer Jernigan; her sister, Delores Kelsey; her brother, Ronald Kelsey; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
