Walter George Steck, age 92 of Dickson, TN died peacefully on Wednesday Nov 23, 2022, after a brief illness. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Jansen officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Mr. Steck will be entombed privately at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Walter was born in Gingen an der Fils in Germany in 1930. He and his wife Hilde were married in 1952, they immigrated to the US in 1953 and their first child of 3 was born in 1954. Walter was trained as a tailor and clothing designer in Ulm and Munich between 1944-1951. After the couple settled in Nashville, he attended night classes at University of TN Nashville to complete Industrial Management Engineering coursework 1958-59. He was the Vice President for Horace Small Manufacturing, a uniform garment manufacturer, until he retired in 1982.
After retirement, the couple moved permanently to their farm near Dickson. They enjoyed their lives gardening, raising cattle, square dancing and participating in bands/choirs.
Survivors include children, Harry Steck (wife, Sandy) of Ft Walton Beach, FL; Dorothy Tucker (husband, Jack) of Kingston Springs, TN; Michael Steck (wife Michelle) of Smyrna, TN; 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
