 Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Military honors will be observed on the beginning at the service. Visitation will be Friday evening, January 27th between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the Dickson Union Cemetery.

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Gerald Lee White, age 80, died peacefully Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. Thomas West after a short stay.

Gerald was born in DuPage County, Illinois and was the son of the late Graydon and Leta Brown White. He was a graduate of Dickson High School, Class of 1960.  After high school and attending two years of college he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1966. He was honorably discharged in 1966 receiving the Good Conduct Medal as a sharpshooter.  Later on he attended Austin Peay University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and then he attended Vanderbilt Law School. In 1969 he began a 26 year career with Atmos Energy retiring in 1995. Professionally, Gerald was an accountant. Gerald was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church.

Gerald had a creative mind and enjoyed building and creating different things.  He had several hobbies that he and his son could spend time together; including building remote control boats and airplanes. His latest and greatest hobby was building his outdoor garden railroad. It would start inside his home and come to the outside garden where the train would go through villages, travel pass the fish ponds and the complete design of towns.  He was a former member and officer of the Nashville Garden Railway Association. From the college years, he was a member of the Parachute Club in Clarksville, TN and continued as long as he could. Gerald was also instrumental in the development and structure of the railroad display at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital.

Survivors include his wife; Brenda Baker White of Franklin, TN, his son; William Reuben “Bill” White and his wife Kara of Marengo, IL, his daughter; Rebekah White “Becky” Harris and her husband James of Great Falls, MT, his sister; Bette White Hawkins and her husband Charlie of Dickson, TN, his three grandchildren; Tyler Lee White and his wife Erin, Adelaine Leigh “Lainey” Harris and Henry Michael “Hank” Harris, his one great grandson; William Thomas White. He was preceded in death by his parents; Graydon and Leta Brown White and his brother Roger White.
