Theresa Helberg, daughter of Theodore Carlton Helberg, Jr., and Vara Irene Burns, was born in Smyrna, TN, on June 2, 1955, and passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Dickson, TN, after a short illness. She is preceded in death by both her parents and most of her aunts and uncles. She is survived by her two sons, Derek Weatherspoon (Kelly) and Ryan Redden (Lindsay); her three grandchildren, Harper and Sawyer Redden and Ian Weatherspoon.  She is survived, also, by her siblings, Nancy Menke (Sara Rosson) and Teddy Helberg (Kim Lindlof); and several nieces and nephews, Kristen Menke, Emily Menke, Annie Helberg and Taylor Williams; and one aunt, Shirley Crow.

Nothing meant more to Theresa than her family, especially her sons and grandchildren.  She took great delight in following all of their activities and was proud of each one.  She also was proud to have been a member of the Dickson Police Department as an emergency 911 operator and records clerk from 1991-2011.  She always enjoyed helping people, was a terrific Titans fan, and was great company in any crowd. Her smile and laughter were contagious. Theresa never met a stranger and had a big heart.

In her later life, Theresa received great care and assistance from Elizabeth Bellar’s The Care Giving Elite, especially from Amy Mullinix, Mary Ann Richardson and Joni Davis. The family also would like to express its appreciation to TriStar Horizon Medical Center and NHC Dickson for the professional, attentive and kind care Theresa received.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN, at 1:00 p.m., under the direction of Tommy Marvin and Taylor Funeral Home.  There will be a gathering at the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum immediately after the service.

What though the radiance which was once so bright

Be now forever taken from our sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower,

We will grieve not, but rather find

Strength in what remains behind.

                                                      William Wordsworth
