Evelyn Bernice Parker Gowin, age 86 of White Bluff/Kingston Springs died on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Horizon Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hutton Cemetery in White Bluff, TN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
Evelyn was born on March 12, 1937 in the Craggie Hope community of Cheatham County. She was a daughter of the late Ellis and Dollie Cathey Parker. Evelyn was very much a family-oriented person. Her family was one of the most important aspects of her life. She was also known to be a feisty, strong-minded woman with a heart of gold. Before her health declined, she had attended services at the Craggie Hope United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dan Gowin, Sr.; her son James Gowin, Sr.; her granddaughter, Jamie Gibbs; brother, William "Leo" Parker; sisters, Almeda Nalls and Ethel Lorene Redden; daughters-in-law, Melinda, and Susan.
Mrs. Gowin is survived by her sons, Dan S. Gowin, Jr. of Kingston Springs, William S. Gowin of Craggie Hope; her daughters, Sherrie Young of White Bluff, and Claudia Dixon of Vanleer; her sister, Bessie Green of White Bluff; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
