      Mr. Mel Fred Ogle, age 95 of Southside, TN, died on Saturday, April 20, 2024.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating.  The interment will be in Rye’s Chapel Church Cemetery.  The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.       Mr. Ogle was born on July 11, 1928 in Sevier County, Tennessee.  He was a son of the late Pinkney W. and Josie May Huskey Ogle.  He was a Carpenter by trade.  Throughout his early life, Mr. Ogle worked for many different companies in Nashville and Clarksville, TN, including the Cooper Construction Company.  Also in his younger days, he loved to play music with his guitar.  He enjoyed spending time with his brother, Jack, either taking trips together or playing golf.  He was a devoted husband to Dora, his late wife of 45 years.  Together, they enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales.  He was a loving father to his children.  And to everyone else, he was known as “Pa”.  He loved all his family very much.  His eyes always lit up when the young children came around.  Above all, he was a gentle and kind-hearted soul that would give you anything he had if he knew you needed it. 

     Mr. Ogle was preceded in death by his parents, Pinkney and Josie May Ogle; his wife, Dora Jane Christy Ogle; infant daughter, Clara Inez Ogle; brother, Harold H. Ogle; sisters, Norma Elizabeth Ogle, Mary Pauline Clabo, Amaline Rymer, and Betty Ruth Ogle. 

     Mr. Ogle is survived by his children, Josie Ann Elkins (Sherrill), Loretta Gail Bruce (Jimmy); his children by marriage, Patricia Herrell (Ray), Ernest Epps (Donna), Dennis Epps (Connie); brother, Jack Ogle (Peggy); sister, Arbutus Daniel; grandchildren, Chris Tomlinson (Christy), Beth Pack (Jeff), Laura Nickens (David), Jonathan “Andy” Bruce; grandchildren by marriage, Bobbi Devers (Lonnie), Billie Shively (Mark), Jennifer Hoard (Danny Herrell), Veronica Hodges (Jackie), Pamela Serrano (Miguel), Michael Watson (Andrea), Jessica Watson, Kimberly Bass (Ben), and Brandon Epps; great grandchildren, Candace Harper, Johnathan Pack, Madison Zivkov, Blain Zivkov, Gracie Pack, Leigha Tomlinson, Kendel Tomlinson, Payton Tomlinson, Matthew Nickens, and Olivia Nickens; great grandchildren by marriage, Amber, Andrea, John Michael, Christopher, Jack, Makayla, Caleb, Shae, Carson, Trey, Ty, Marshall, Mickey, Dempsey, William, Miranda, Dennis, Zackary, Shyanne, and Ely; 7 great great grandchildren and one on the way.  Also surviving are nephews, Rex Rymer (Darlene), and Jimmy Clabo (Wanda).
