Born in Decatur County, Gordon was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Newton Sterling Carver and the late Willie Lois Wade Carver. He retired after 35 years as a truck driver and was a member of Burns Baptist Church. Gordon loved people and enjoyed visiting with them. He was well-known all over the county for building, finishing and selling his cedar bluebird houses. He will surely be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Fay Wright Dunn Carver, Dickson; his sons, Gordon Len “Buddy” Carver, White Bluff, James Nathan “Jamie” Carver, White Bluff, Jason Robert Carver, Kingston Springs, and Lorenzo “Larry” Carver, White Bluff; his daughters, Lisa Nicole Stroud, Charlotte, and Sherlyn “Joy” Carver, Kingston Springs; brother, Benny Ray Carver, Parsons, TN; sister, Wanda Turnbo, Decaturville, TN; 26 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded by daughter, Misty Brim and by son, Kevin Brim and by one sister, Marquetta Greenway Mathis.
