   Grady "Wayne" Cook, age 79 of Waverly, TN died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN.  A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Taylor Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.  The visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. 


   Mr. Cook was born on November 17, 1944 in Nashville, TN.  He was a son of the late Grady Marion Cook and the late Mary Bryant Baskin Cook.  On March 2, 1968, he joined in marriage to Dorothy Sue Duke.  Later, the same year he was drafted into military service.  Wayne served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as an Army Ranger.  He was injured during his service and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart Medal.  During his work career, Wayne owned and operated a commercial HVAC air duct company.  Wayne was a fisherman, he loved to fish.  After retirement, he and “Dot” moved to the river in Humphreys County.  He enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting and playing golf.  Wayne was such a friendly person; he was nice to everyone.  He had a great and funny personality. 

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Wayne Cook; two brothers, Bobby Cook and Marion Cook; brothers-in-law Toby Burgett, Chuck Bales, Bobby Duke and Joe Duke, sisters-in-law Stella Cook and Marie Tria.

   Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dot Cook; his sisters, Jo Ann Burgett of Nashville, TN, Faye Bales of Destin, FL, Sandra (Bobby) Cox of Joelton, TN; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cook of Joelton, TN, Peggy (Don) Buhler of Waverly, TN, and Jackie Duke of Springfield, TN and brother-in-law Jack (Nancy) Duke of Ashland City, Tn.  Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
